Where it all started! I never realized how affordable these had become, so when I realized I could afford it, I needed to go see it. When we went to look for it, it was nowhere to be found. The salesman explained that the car was on the wash at the moment, and had been for multiple times as it got called out each time it went in. This really was love at the first sight, as when the tiny little sportscar zoomed to view past the lines of parked dull saloons, my heart melt instantly. I remember racing these things way back in games like PGR4 and old Forza games, and getting one in real life was a childhood dream come true!
The elephant in the room
Pretty much every Miata enthusiast will tell you the NC is the heavy and cumbersome one made by Ford, but that’s not really fair. Based on the RX8 chassis, it was miles better to drive than the NA and NB I’ve owned since, while it offered most of the same feel and features as the princess of the family ND did, on a fraction of the price.
Condition
This one was immaculate. It had only done 50k km, and was virtually untouched. The interior was immaculate too, although I did modify it slightly with higher trim speaker surrounds and IL motorsport satin details. The car had been rust proofed, and was in exquisite condition all around. The only flaw it had was it liked to wet itself every now and then on heavier rain days, teachíng me a valuable lesson in drain systems (NC was notorious for this behaviour – it was an easy maintenance once you acquired the correct tools for it)
